Cookie Policy
This page explains which cookies and similar technologies TheKeyStore Switzerland uses on thekeystore.ch and how you can manage your choices. The controller is Everix GmbH, Cheerstrasse 13i, 6014 Luzern, Switzerland. If you have questions, contact us at info@thekeystore.ch.
Visiting our website does not constitute blanket consent to cookies, analytics or advertising. Where consent is required, you must make an active choice. You can reject the optional categories offered and change consent you have previously given.
1. What are cookies and similar technologies?
Cookies are small data entries stored by your browser when you visit a website. For example, they can associate a cart with a session, remember a chosen language or recognise visits for analysis. Some cookies are intended for a session; others remain stored until they expire or are deleted.
Local browser storage, scripts and pixels can perform similar tasks. When a page loads, a pixel or script can transmit information to a provider, such as pages accessed, technical identifiers and device information. Such transmission does not always require a conventional cookie. The choices described below therefore also relate to the associated analytics and marketing functions.
2. Which categories do we use?
Technically necessary functions
Shopify provides the technical foundation for our shop. Necessary functions serve, in particular, security, session management, the cart, checkout, sign-in and storing your privacy choice. They may also process information required for a function you expressly request. These functions cannot be fully disabled through the selection for optional categories. This does not automatically make every Shopify technology technically necessary: Shopify also provides analytics and marketing functions.
Functional settings and personalisation
Functional storage helps take account of language or other settings, for example. In the cookie selection, the optional category is called “Personalization”. Whether a particular storage operation is necessary or requires your consent depends on its purpose. Remembering a language you expressly selected is distinct from additional, optional personalisation.
Analytics and statistics
Shopify Analytics and Google Analytics 4 help us understand how the shop is used, including page views, product views and order processes. Usage events may be processed with browser, device and event identifiers. These optional functions belong to the “Analytics” category. Necessary operational reporting on orders already placed is distinct from this.
Marketing, advertising and conversion tracking
Google Ads and the Meta integration for Facebook and Instagram are configured in the shop. These technologies are used, among other purposes, to attribute advertising clicks and purchases, measure advertising effectiveness and personalise advertising. Google tags and the Meta Pixel are used for this. Meta also has a server connection through the Conversions API. Shopify provides marketing functions too, including Shopify Network Intelligence. The “Marketing” category concerns the corresponding optional processing. A server connection does not replace required consent.
Third parties and embedded functions
In addition to Shopify, Google and Meta, the shop integrates Chatty for chat and FAQs, and Judge.me and Trustpilot for reviews or review integrations. Loading or using these components may provide the respective provider with technical connection data and identifiers. A function supplied by a third party may also serve several purposes. “Third party” is therefore not separate permission for all purposes and does not automatically mean either “necessary” or “advertising”.
In the current shop, chat and review components also load independently of consent to Google or Meta tracking. Rejecting those advertising categories therefore does not mean that no connection to third parties is made at all. Where a component uses non-essential storage or access for purposes requiring consent, valid consent is also necessary.
3. Examples from the shop
Browser observations included localization and cart_currency for localisation and cart currency, as well as Shopify entries such as _shopify_essential. After consent, entries included _ga and _ga_… for Google Analytics, _gcl_au in connection with Google advertising measurement, and _fbp for Meta. Shopify also uses its own analytics and marketing entries.
These examples are not a complete, unchanging cookie inventory. The entries created depend on your choices, the functions used and your browser, among other factors. The lifetime of a browser cookie is not the same as the retention period for personal data already transmitted. You can view the expiry set for an existing entry in your browser's cookie or website data settings; it may vary by provider and configuration.
4. Make, reject or change your choice
The visible selection is provided through Shopify's cookie and privacy functions. A technical component of the installed privacy app Pandectes is also integrated.
- On your first visit: The banner displayed offers “Accept”, “Decline” and “Manage preferences”. “Decline” rejects the optional categories offered.
- Select individual categories: Under “Manage preferences”, you can select “Personalization”, “Marketing” and “Analytics” and confirm with “Save my choices”. “Accept all” and “Decline all” are also available there.
- Change your choice later: Open “Cookie preferences” in the footer or open the cookie and privacy settings here. There you can change your choices or reject the optional categories again.
Withdrawal takes effect for the future. It does not undo previous processing or automatically delete all cookies already stored or data already transmitted. Your choice relates to the browser used and its stored state. You may need to make a new selection when using another browser or device, or after deleting website data. Please contact us if the settings will not open for you.
5. Additional browser controls
In addition to the shop's selection, you can use your browser's privacy or website settings to view, delete or block cookies and other website data. Many browsers also offer a separate option to block third-party cookies. Available options vary by browser.
Blocking necessary storage or deleting it during a session may impair sign-in, the cart, checkout or other requested functions. Blocking third-party cookies also does not automatically prevent all scripts, pixels or server-side data transfers. Browser settings supplement the rejection and change options available in the shop.
6. Data protection in Switzerland and Liechtenstein
We take account of Swiss data protection requirements and the guidance of the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner on cookies and similar technologies. What matters is the actual purpose and effects of processing; a cookie's name alone does not determine whether its use is lawful.
Where Liechtenstein's requirements apply, particular attention must be paid to prior consent requirements for non-essential storage on or access to your device. Required consent must be voluntary, informed and given through an active step. Merely continuing to browse or accepting our Terms and Conditions does not replace it. Mandatory requirements also apply to third-party functions.
7. Further information and changes
Information about personal data, recipients, transfers abroad, retention and your rights is available in our Privacy Policy. This Cookie Policy supplements it with practical information about the use and control of technologies in the shop.
We update this information when the technologies used or choices available change. A new version does not replace consent where consent is required for new processing.
